Biodegradation Analysis System: Under controlled conditions, the amount of carbon dioxide produced during the biodegradation of materials is measured using the principle of non-dispersive infrared detection. Other sensors can also detect specific gases, such as methane, oxygen and hydrogen sulfide.
The sample is placed in a sealed space. Under constant temperature conditions, when the vapor pressure of the sample and the surrounding air reach equilibrium, the water vapor pressure of the gas space is taken as the sample vapor pressure. That is, the decimal form of the relative humidity of the air in the top space of the sample chamber is the water activity of the sample.
